EuroMarine member organisation Institute of Oceanology Polish Academy of Sciences (IOPAN) and the European Marine Board Communications Panel have announced the opening of registrations and abstract submissions for the 4th International Marine Science Communication Conference (CommOCEAN 2020).
The conference, as the International Marine Science Communication Conference, was launched by the European Marine Board Communications Panel (EMBCP) and focuses on a target audience of young marine scientists and communicators who want to be trained in science communication skills. This year's conference will see some of the programme split between marine scientists and professional communicators ensuring the programme is relevant, challenging and inspiring.
Due to Covid-19, the conference has been organised as an entirely virtual event, but will still offer the same content including the combination of hands-on exercises in current science communication skills for disseminating ocean research and technology with plenty of expertise-sharing, social interaction and fascinating marine science. The platform to be used is yet to be announced, but all registrants will be advised of the plan well ahead of time.
The organisers are seeking abstract submissions within the following categories:
- 12 min oral online presentation on (marine) science communication activities
- 1-hour interactive online training/ workshop on (advanced) communication skills building or on (marine) science communication
- “Show and Tell” visuals presenting (marine) science communication activities
Details on each of these submission choices is available at the abstract submission page.
