EuroMarine Member Organisation Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (SZN) is hosting a workshop, "Genomics for a Blue Economy", aimed at identfying the current methods, challenges and future directions in the characterisation of marine natural compounds and their potential as biotechnological and pharmaceutical products.
The workshop will cover a number of topics relevant to blue genomics including:
- bioinformatic and genomic tools available for genome mining for identification of marine secondary metabolite genes and clusters
- marine secondary metabolites characterization through coupling integrative genomics with other methods like RNA-Seq, metabolomic and proteomic
- novel approaches to unlock the expression of silent marine secondary metabolites, including co-culturing techniques
- cutting-edge technologies in genome editing and novel metabolites identification
Registering to the workshop is free and participants will be able to attend all three sessions and will be provided with lunch on the first day. There will be a €25 social dinner which attendees will pay at the meal.
