"Measures to Prevent Marine Plastics" will discuss the measures needed to combat the urgent marine plastics problem affecting Europe’s coasts and oceans. The event follows a report on Marine Plastics: Where do they come from? Where do they go? and includes figures from a recent study Eunomia completed for the European Commission.
VASAB and the Baltic SCOPE project in cooperation with ICES organizes the 2nd Baltic MSP Forum – the biggest regional event of the institutions responsible for maritime spatial planning (MSP). The Forum serves as a platform for discussions among those involved and affected by maritime spatial planning on how to develop and enhance MSP in the Baltic Sea basin.
The Marine Biotechnology ERA-NET will hold a stakeholder meeting in Brussels, coinciding with the launch of the recently completed European Marine Biotechnology Research and Innovation Roadmap. The meeting builds on the key elements of the Roadmap and will feature a wide range of speakers from international industry and the research community.
The event will run from 9:00 to 17:00 on 13th October and from 9:00 to 13:00 on 14th October and comprises 6 sessions. The event is open for all stakeholders and can be attended for free.
The IPBES Secretariat, supported by the task force and technical support unit on capacity-building, has launched the IPBES Webinar Series to further strengthen the capacities of those involved in or wanting to learn more about the work of the Platform.
The ‘Be Smart, Think Blue’ Conference and Brokerage Event 2016 is a two part event taking place in the beautiful Polish city of Gdansk on the 19th and 20th September 2016. The event offers the full range of stakeholders in the area of marine and maritime research the opportunity to interact with the Smart Blue Regions initiative (19th September 2016) and to establish contacts with potential partners to address open calls for Blue Growth research proposals in Horizon 2020 (20th September 2016). The event is free of charge.
On 8 September 2016, MEP Ricardo Serrão Santos is hosting an EOOS event at the European Parliament entitled ‘Building a European Ocean Observing System’. This event will be the first dedicated conference on EOOS and will help laying its foundation.
Decision support tools which map human uses and nature conservation can assist in overcoming spatial planning problems in an integrated management way. Moving to a co-ordinated management approach to coastal and maritime areas ensures an efficient use of marine resources. Eight participants will meet at the Institute for Agricultural and Fisheries Research (ILVO) to address this area.
As a side event to its 2017 General Assembly meeting and upon a decision of its Steering Committee, EuroMarine is organising a meeting at the EU Parliament on 8 Feb. 2017 afternoon.
The event is titled Blue Science for Blue Growth - EuroMarine, connecting ideas and people.
It will be hosted by MEP Ricardo Serrão Santos, and is open to all those interested.
