Call for Independent Directors for the VLIZ Board of Directors

The Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) currently has a call open for applications for a position on the VLIZ Board of Directors. The VLIZ Board of Directors lead the affairs of the association and decide on VLIZ's strategy and main policies. The position is a role demanding in nature, and a preselection of candidates is made by the Board of Directors on the basis of the cover letters and CV's received.

Due to the position being independent in nature, the applicant must fulfill the following criteria:

Interreg Baltic Sea Region Opens Call for Applications for Project Platforms

Interreg Baltic Sea Region has opened a call for applications for project platforms, which enable projects to team up, and in this way increase the impact of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region’s projects and other EU-funded projects in the area. The total budget for a project platform can be up to EUR 1 million. In total 4-6 platforms are expected to be funded depending on the quality of the applications.

Expert reviewers sought for IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is undertaking an Expert Review of the IPCC “Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C”, an IPCC special report on the impacts of global warming of 1.5ºC above pre-industrial levels and related global greenhouse gas emission pathways, in the context of strengthening the global response to the threat of climate change, sustainable development, and efforts to eradicate poverty. Therefore, it invites relevant experts to be part of the review process.

 

EMOSE 2017 Inter-Comparison of Plankton Metagenome Analysis now Inviting Community Participation

The scientific objective of the first Edition (2017) of EMOSE is to review methods in marine plankton metagenomic analysis, essentially comparing the different filtration volumes and size‐fractions used by recent initiatives, i.e. Tara Oceans, Malaspina and the Ocean Sampling Day. Already published data from these projects will be complemented by a new set of data obtained from a comparative experiment of protocols used in the three initiatives.

Call for Capacity Building Event Organisation

Do you have an idea for a seminar, short course or other kind of training event? EKLIPSE is inviting representatives of networks, organisations, projects and other entities to submit proposals to develop capacity building events relevant to the Science-Policy-Society interface, regarding biodiversity, ecosystem services, and related challenges. EKLIPSE seeks to be responsive to community development needs across the European Union by supporting multinational events that add value to science, policy and society.

European Research Council Starting Grants

Researchers of any nationality with two to seven years experience since the completion of their PhD (with some exceptions being allowed) are eligible for the call. Applicants are expected to have a scientific track record showing great promise, and it is essential to have an excellent research proposal. Applications can be made in any field of research. Research must be conducted in a public or private research institution.
