The Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans and Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (POGO) is currently promoting its Visiting Fellowship Programme for 2017. A joint programme between POGO and the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR), the programme is designed to support training and capacity building leading towards a global observation scheme for the oceans. A success for over 15 years, the programme has awarded over 160 fellowships since 2001.
The programme is open to a wide range of applicants, including scientists, technicians, postgraduate students and post-doctoral fellows of developing countries, and countries with economies in transition and involved in oceanographic work. Amongst many other advantages, the programme also offers the opportunity to visit other oceanographic centres for a period of 1-3 months for training on any aspect of oceanographic observations, analyses and interpretation.
The main objectives of the programme are to promote training & facilitate capacity building, and advance global ocean observations & their applications. In order to apply, interested applicants must provide:
