An engineer (IE) in biology position will be open at the Station Biologique de Roscoff (SBR), Brittany, France to study the role of translation control during kidney regeneration. The project aims to identify self renewing nephron progenitor cells in marine species with regeneration properties in order to study the mechanism of kidney regeneration, an ability which has been lost in mammals. Major part of the work will focus on kidney development in the embryos by the analysis of the different steps of nephron formation together with the analysis of renal progenitor behaviour and properties at juvenile stage (lasting several months after hatching).
Ideally, the candidate would have previously worked in an academic laboratory research interested in developmental biology or cell biology. Experience in microtome and confocal microscope handling is wishable. Basic knowledge in animal development biology would also be appreciable.
