The French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea (IFREMER) is seeking a research scientist for a permanent position to study fish/fishing gear interactions. Based in their research unit STH (Science et Technologie Halieutiques) in Lorient, the role will entail the development of a better understanding of how species resopond to various stimuli and assess their individual and collective skills during capture/avoidance processes. The overall goal of the research will be to contribute to the modelling and development of more sustainable commercial and scientific fishing gear in order to reduce the impact of fishing on the ecosystem.
The successful applicant will benefit not only from the availability of high quality expertise, funding and infrastructure at Ifremer, but also from the collaborative relationships the lab shares with other organisations. For more information on the role, please see the flyer below, or follow the link to the job's webpage. Please be aware that applications may only be made through the website.
