A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Laboratory of fish protistology at the Institute of Parasitology, Biology Center of Czech Academy of Sciences in České Budějovice, for a duration of 2.5 years and potential for prolongation thereafter.
The main interest of the lab are Myxozoa, an ancient group of cnidarian parasites that have conquered a range of different aquatic habitats and fish hosts. The fellow will join an international research team elucidating host-pathogen interaction resulting from the 350 million years of arms race between the myxozoans and the immune system of fish, working on our model organism Sphaerospora molnari. The principal aims of the project are the elucidation of mechanisms underlying the development of specific immunity and the analysis of the evasion strategies employed by the parasite.
Applicants should send their CV and cover letter to Dr. Tomáš Korytář at tkorytarparu [dot] cas [dot] cz.
