The UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre (WCMC) have a full-time postdoctoral position available to undertake tasks related to scoping the potential to develop a multidimensional biodiversity index suitable for policy-making purposes, and to develop ideas around bringing together efforts on mapping global biodiversity and its threats. The ultimate target of this work is international to national scale conservation policy, and the relevant Multilateral Environmental Conventions and associated bodies.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant natural science field, with a strong emphasis on analytical and quantitative skills. They will have extensive experience in the statistical analysis of large spatial datasets, demonstrated by having undertaken significant research at the global scale and with a proven record of academic performance. Skills in written communication, self-organisation, team working and engagement with stakeholders are also important.
