The EC Joint Research Centre (JRC) is seeking an experience fisheries scientist to support the Common Fisheries Policy with scientific advice through the development and application of modelling approaches and Management Strategy Evaluation. The candidate must have a strong background in fisheries, marine or quantitative sciences, or related disciplines.
The post is assigned to the JRC Fisheries and Aquaculture activities and particularly linked to the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). The CFP, a major EU policy framework, aims to ensure that fishing and aquaculture are environmentally, economically and socially sustainable and that they provide a source of healthy food for EU citizens. The CFP is also exceptional in that the provision of scientific advice is required by legislation. CFP scientific advice is underpinned by the EU Data Collection Framework (DCF). The JRC is strongly involved both in the DCF and the CFP scientific advice provision.
