The Joint Research Centre currently has a Project Officer position open. Due to the demanding nature of the role, the candidate will require a wide array of both qualifications and experience. The candidate must have a strong background in marine biology, fishery science or a related discipline. It is also essential that the candidate possesses a PhD in any of these fields or, lacking this, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in relevant research.
Essential requirement is expertise in quantitative analysis combined with solid statistical and fisheries modelling skills. This encompasses experience with the statistical programming language R, database manipulation and knowledge of fisheries assessment and management strategy evaluation (MSE). Very good knowledge of English (B2 level) is also essential. Preferential requirements are familiarity with scientific fora on scientific advice to fisheries management, stock assessment (e.g. STECF, ICES, GFCM), as well as knowledge of the CFP and DCF
