Built on the site of the European University Institute of the Sea, close to the Ifremer Centre in Brittany, the Maritime Economy Unit (EM) is an integral part of 'Joint Research Unit 6308 AMURE (Management of Resources and uses of marine areas and coastal), involving teams from Ifremer and the University of Brest in law and economics from the sea. the UMR is associated AMURE CNRS since 1 January 2016.
The main areas of interest for the EM unit is the economic analysis of maritime activities, assessing their impacts on marine and coastal ecosystems, the study of the application of conservation and analysis responses of public policy. The research economist at Ifremer will strengthen the capacity of the UMR AMURE to analyze economic institutional mechanisms, their evolution and their impact on the dynamics of the uses of resources and maritime areas and ecosystems.
