A two-year postdoctoral research position is available immediately at the Roscoff Marine Laboratory, UMI “Evolutionary Biology and Ecology of Algae” in France. The aim of the project is to develop a genetic map and QTLs for traits related with growth characteristics, biomolecule content (e.g. lipids, polysaccharides, proteins, amino acids) and stress and disease resistance in the brown alga Saccharina latissima. The aim of the project is also to study the relationships between crops and populations established in the wild in this recently cultivated kelp species This position is funded in the context of the EU GENIALG project.
Applicants must have a PhD in population genomics and in plant or animal breeding. They must have a good background in QTL analyses, molecular biology and bio-informatics techniques applied to gene association studies. No specific experience on algae or marine species is necessary.
