The UGent Blue Growth Summer School provides holistic training in several blue growth domains: the maritime module covers blue energy and coastal engineering, while the marine module covers aquaculture, marine ecosystems and societal benefits, multi-use platforms and marine spatial planning.
The course targets master students with different backgrounds: e.g. engineers, bio-engineers, geographers and marine biologists. PhD students in the first year of their doctoral training are also allowed to inscribe. Students are allowed to attend a single module; however, attending the entire programme allows a submersion in the cross-disciplinary blue growth philosophy. Recently presented at European Maritime Day, the initiative was warmly welcomed by DG MARE and Prof. Dr. Ricardo Serrao Santos, Member of European Parliament European was invited as a member of the jury to evaluate the work of the students.
The course will take place at GreenBridge, UGent Campus Ostend in Belgium from 12-23 September 2016.
The Inscription fee for the entire course is €500, a single week €350 (see practical details).
