The EuroMarine OYSTER team is co-organising the Enbluement satellite event on "connecting science and arts to expand our belonging to the ocean" which is taking place on April 9th, 2024 as part of the Ocean Decade week in Barcelona!

This two-part event will explore new ways towards harmony with nature, expanding the scientific approach through sensory and artistic perceptions and interactions.

Location: Institut de Ciències del Mar & Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta, Barcelona, Spain

Part 1 - Workshop: 17:00 - 18:00

  • Sala d'actes Ramon Margalef, Ciències del Mar (ICM) CSIC
  • Limited to 150 registered participants
  • Speakers will share insights on raising awareness about the ocean's vital role in our planet through six aspiring stories on visual arts, music, traditional knowledge, aquatic sports, augmented reality and virtual networks. This will be followed by an open debate on our relationship with nature.

Part 2: Participatory Performance - 18:30-20:00

  • Location: Passeig Maritim de la Barceloneta (+info TBA)
  • Open to all public
  • Attendees will follow the rhythms of a percussion band, immerse themselves in the "correaigues" parade celebration and participate in a "shoal of fish" choreography, all in celebration of our connection to the ocean. The event will conclude with a collective coral performance and a guitar concert. Participants will have the opportunity to co-write a "letter to the ocean".
