The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is seeking a Scientific Project Officer in Marine Biodiversity.

JRC provides independent, evidence-based knowledge and science, supporting EU policies to positively impact society. This vacancy is with the Directorate for Sustainable Resources, Ocean and Water Unit. The mission of Directorate for Sustainable Resources is to provide independent scientific evidence to support the development, implementation, evaluation and coherence of EU policies, mainly in the areas of agriculture and rural development, international development cooperation, environment and climate change, blue growth and fisheries, the bioeconomy, industry and trade.

The ideal candidate should be a marine scientist with a strong background in biodiversity assessments and have a PhD in marine science, biology, ecology, or an equivalent field with emphasis on marine environmental related aspects.

The selected candidate will carry out scientific and technical work focused on the further development of assessment procedures for marine biodiversity, harmonised reporting by EU MS and the implementation of adequate measures for its protection.
